How guests opt in to messages from Venus

Last updated: 2026-05-19

This page documents the opt-in flow for the Venus messaging service: the two paths by which a guest agrees to receive messages.

1. Who Venus is

Venus is the AI guest concierge operated by Luvvy Duvvy. When a couple or planner uses Luvvy Duvvy for an event, Venus becomes the dedicated phone number guests can text or call for everything related to that event — RSVPs, schedule, dress code, parking, day-of details, and anything else the host wants Venus to know.

2. How guests opt in

There are two ways a guest opts in to messages from Venus:

Most commonly, the guest initiates contact. The host (the couple or planner) shares the Venus phone number with guests via their own existing channels — the wedding website, save-the-date cards, paper invitations, or word-of-mouth. A guest who has questions or wants to RSVP texts or calls Venus on their own initiative. That first inbound message is the consent moment.

Less commonly, the host authorizes Venus to send a single permission-request message to a specific guest. Before any such message is sent, the host explicitly affirms — per guest — that they believe in good faith they have a basis to reach that guest about the event (existing relationship, prior conversation, etc.). Venus then sends one message identifying itself and the host, providing the host's direct phone number for verification, and asking whether further messages are welcome. If the guest replies YES, the conversational state begins. If the guest replies NO or STOP, Venus records the preference and sends no further messages. If the guest does not reply, no further messages are sent.

Venus never sends marketing messages, never sends messages on behalf of anyone other than the host of the specific event, and never sends more than one permission-request to any individual guest.

3. What guests receive first

The first time Venus reaches a guest, the message introduces who she is and what she's for:

"Hi Sarah — this is Venus, the AI concierge for Maria & Marco's wedding. I'll be your point of contact for anything wedding-related. Reply STOP to opt out at any time."

Guests know exactly who they're texting and why before any other message is sent.

4. What kinds of messages we send

  • Replies to questions the guest asked (the most common kind).
  • RSVP confirmations after a guest replies with their answer.
  • Reminders the host has scheduled (save-the-date confirmations, day-before details, time-sensitive updates).

We do not send marketing messages. We do not send messages on behalf of anyone other than the host of the specific event the guest was invited to.

5. Opting out

Reply STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT at any time. Venus will confirm and stop messaging immediately for that event. Other event invitations are handled separately — opting out of one wedding does not opt out of any others.

Full details: Opting out of Venus.

6. Frequency and cost

Message frequency varies by event but is typically under ten messages per event per guest. Msg & data rates may apply. Venus runs on a licensed U.S. messaging carrier; standard carrier policies apply.

7. Privacy

We do not sell guest contact information. We do not use conversation content to train AI models. We do not share guest details with marketers. See the full Privacy Policy.
